Naomi Joy Nelson is a multi-talented Instrumentalist, Grammy Nominated Music Educator, Author and Speaker on a mission to liberate, educate, and motivate others through her personal experience. Trained as both a Musician and Educator with a ministerial background, Naomi combines her love of outreach, music and education into a harmonious presentation.
A graduate of Florida A&M University, highly sought out musician, minister, and speaker, Naomi has been a voice of inspiration to many. She has engaged audiences, students, as well as her community as a multi-talented instrumentalist, educator, and now author and speaker.
Naomi is a consummate creative and enjoys composing music, writing, reading, and performing. Naomi loves and enjoys her time home with family and quality time with close loved ones and friends. She enjoys cooking, shopping, spending time outdoors, swimming, and visiting the beach.
Naomi has appeared on national television to include The Wonderful World of Disney Magical Holiday Celebration aired on ABC as well as appearances on AfroTV, local and national television networks, as well as radio.
Naomi frequently performs throughout central Florida for special event bookings, ministry, private events, and corporate events to include the Orlando International Airport. She has performed in Jazz Festivals to include The 2017 Orlando Jazz Festival, The 10th-15th Annual Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings’ Jazz in the Park as well as the District 6 Commissioner Bakari Burns’ Jazz in the Park. She also performed for the 2023 Apopka International Jazz Festival featuring Peabo Bryson, Kim & Kayla Waters, Ken Ford, with guest host appearance by Najee.
Naomi Joy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Florida A&M University and has taught instrumental music for over 16 years as an Orange County Public Schools Music Educator, Band and Orchestra Director. In 2023, Naomi was appointed as the 1st Female Band Director of the Historic Jones High School Band. Naomi has received additional honors as a musician and educator to include:

She is an Endorsed Artist with BARI Woodwinds and Dukoff Mouthpieces and has released her 1st Music Album, “Love & Light”. Naomi is also a published author of her 1st Book entitled “My Joy Journey” in which she shares her journey through faith.
